What is Mold?
Molds are types of fungi that produce long tube‐like structures called hyphae.
As the hyphae begin to grow, it develops into hairy or fuzzy looking colonies.
Colonies may be found in a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures depending on their type and what the growth conditions are like.
You may see them in any of the following colors, as well, black, white, dark olive, pink, red, brown, green, bluish green, yellow, light gray, dark gray, orange, or various shades of any of these colors.
There are several types of black molds that are non-toxic unlike black mold caused by Stachybotrys which is toxic.
Mold colonies contain tens of thousands of tiny structures called “spores.”
What are Mold Spores
Mold Spores serve three critical roles.
Mold Spores are the way molds reproduce.
Mold Spores help mold survive harsh conditions, such as extreme temperatures, or lack of moisture.
Mold Spores are the way molds spread throughout nature. Since spores are tiny and, lightweight they can be carried for thousands of miles by wind and moisture droplets.
